Let's Get The Process Started

In the middle of January I met with my Bishop to tell him the exciting news, that I want to serve a mission! My bishop was excited to hear this news, and he said he couldn't wait for me to start the process of filling out my papers.

1 month later, on February 14, 2012 my papers are complete. The next step is to have the final two interviews with my Bishop and then with my Stake President. I am hoping to have the interviews next Sunday. When the interviews are complete, my papers get sent to the church headquarters and then wait for my mission call is on! So exciting! :)

The Thought Was Always In My Mind

"Today I am pleased to announce that able, worthy young women who have the desire to serve may be recommended for missionary service beginning at age 19, instead of age 21." This statement came from President Thomas S. Monson in the Saturday morning session of General Conference in October 2012.

Since President Monson made this wonderful announcement, the thought that I should serve a mission was always in my mind. Whatever I did to try to make this thought leave my mind, it would just not leave. I tried making excuses and convince myself not to go. I tried to convince myself that since sister are not under the same mandate to serve as are the young men and me not serving a mission wouldn't make a difference. But deep down, I knew that it's not leaving my mind because maybe I am supposed to go on a mission.

Every single night I prayed to ask the Lord to help guide me in the decision whether I should go or not.  I prayed for me to recognize any signs that could be an answer. I prayed that I would be in tune with the Spirit. I prayed that I would find my answer in my scripture study, or in a lesson at church. I  prayed that maybe answer could come through someone.

After a couple of months, there were some small signs and there were some experiences that were leaning me towards serving a mission. I truly believe that our prayers are answered through other people because I believe part of my answer came through talking to some amazing people in my life. When you are in tune with the spirit, amazing things can happen.
